This service is made up of two elements; 1. residential stay and 2. training. Our residential training service provides you with the peace of mind that your dog will not only receive the best care, but also the best training.
During the residential your dog will be trained at regular intervals throughout the day. I can tailor these training sessions to work on elements that you are struggling with.
All residentials finish with a handover session, whereby I cover all of the elements you need to know to continue enforcing the behaviours we have worked.
Residential training is available to all types of dogs, from young puppies to older dogs.
Despite many hours of homework and research nothing prepared me for the welcoming of Molly, my Working Cocker Spaniel Puppy into my life. After struggling to house train Molly for 5 weeks in a 1stfloor flat it was apparent that some much-needed assistance was required and thankfully Graham was recommended to me by someone I knew that had been a previous client of his. After a tearful telephone call on that fateful Wednesday morning, when a very polite gentleman answered and listened to my struggles, was when my journey with Southcoast Gun Dog Training began. Molly was collected that same evening by Graham for a 3-week residential training course, I was at the end and needed help fast. It was all very much a whirlwind but as it was evident that I wasn’t coping well, Graham pulled out all the stops to do all that he possibly could to get Molly and Myself the help we needed. He was honest about our prospects and the challenges that lay ahead owning a Working line dog, but for his honesty I am truly thankful.
During Molly’s stay with Graham, I received regular updates on her progress and wellbeing, along with advice on what I needed to do for her return home. The change was amazing within a few days, with videos being sent to me of what was a very exuberant untrained puppy, now following basic commands and learning what was going to expected of her as she grew up.
Three weeks later, I picked up a fully house-trained little girl who was now able to sit, stay, laydown on command along with some gundog basics such as the stop whistle, recall whistle and some loose lead walking. During the whole process, the amount of information and guidance I received was amazing, all of my questions were answered along with all of my worries and fears being addressed.
I paid to get my puppy trained during her residential stay but in all honesty, I received just as much training for myself and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend residential training to anyone, whether you have a pup who needs to learn or an older dog with issues that need correcting, I can hand on heart say that it will be money well spent and both you and your dog will learn so much from the whole experience.
